Frequently Asked Questions
Do you accept insurance?
We do not currently accept insurance for massage therapy services. However, we can provide itemized receipts as some plans will reimburse for health and wellness services*.
Prospective and current clients should double check to see if their current employer offers any wellness perks or incentives.
*Please Note: Medicare and most mainstream insurance companies do not reimburse for wellness services like massage therapy.
How often should I get massage therapy?
This depends on your goal. For maintenance and relaxation, monthly or bi-weekly sessions work well. For injury recovery or chronic issues, weekly sessions may be recommended initially. For more intense sessions, your body will need time to re-structure and recover.
What is your cancellation policy?
To respect everyone's time and maintain availability for all clients, we ask for 24-hour cancellation notice. Appointments cancelled with less than 24-hour notice will be charged 50% of the session fee, and no-shows will be charged the full amount. Medical emergencies will be considered on a case-by-base basis.
I’ve never had massage therapy. What can I expect on the first visit?
Welcome! Your first session includes a brief consultation about your health history, current concerns, and goals. We'll discuss the best treatment approach before beginning your massage.
What should I wear during the massage?
This depends on the type of treatment but generally you will undress to your level of comfort. Professional draping is utilized so you will feel safe and comfortable at all times.
Will the massage be painful?
Most often, the answer is no. Our orthopedic treatments may be intense at times, but are not designed to be painful. Lingering soreness, if any, should resolve in 2-3 days.
Is this physical therapy?
No. Massage therapy and physical therapy have different goals. While massage therapy is highly effective for many conditions, it works best as part of a comprehensive approach. We will recommend additional care (physical therapy, chiropractic, Pilates, PCP, etc.) as needed.
